Chris Gnam of University at Buffalo worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

Christopher Gnam is a Mechanical and Aerospace engineering student at the University at Buffalo. His mentor is John Crassidis. Chris’ work at the University at Buffalo aims to both finalize the development of the attitude and orbital estimation algorithms for the LinkSat spacecraft, which will be on orbit in 2020. Further, he has also recently started exploring the use of signal-to-noise ratio to estimate the attitude of a broadcasting satellite, as well as aiding in maneuver detection.

Chris is also working with the operational navigation team for the OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission at NASA Goddard. His work primarily aims to develop surface feature navigation capabilities for the Goddard Image Analysis and Navigation Tool (GIANT). The performance of the software will be evaluated using flight data from OSIRIS-REx, and will be used for orbit determination during both orbit-A and orbit-B mission phases.
